The year 2026 marks a special milestone for SUTCO POLSKA. We are celebrating our 35th anniversary – a meaningful moment to reflect on past achievements, appreciate shared successes, and look confidently toward the future. This anniversary provides an opportunity to review the path we have taken and to highlight the continuous development of our expertise in modern waste treatment and sorting systems.
From Vision to International Success
The story of Sutco began around 40 years ago with the vision of the company’s founder, Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Schmitz, in Germany. During his studies, he recognized a gap in the market and developed the idea of technically optimizing the lifting and tipping systems of waste collection vehicles.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, new environmental and legislative requirements in Germany led to a fundamental transformation of the waste management industry. The growing focus on circular economy principles and recycling created demand for technical solutions for the sorting and processing of waste – a field in which Sutco became involved at an early stage, systematically expanding its portfolio.
With continuous growth in the early years, demand increased for expanded production capacities, reliable delivery times, and flexible responses to individual customer requirements. An important step toward internationalization was therefore taken in 1991 with the establishment of the production facility in Sosnowiec, Poland. This marked the beginning of Sutco Polska’s long-term presence in the Polish market.
Building Expertise and Strategic Development
It started a period of intense economic and technological transformation, requiring courage, flexibility, and a clearly defined vision for growth. In 1993, the Sutco Engineering Office was founded in Kraków, significantly strengthening the company’s design and technical capabilities.
A further major milestone followed in 1999 with the company’s entry into the planning and implementation of technologies for the recovery and processing of municipal waste in Poland. This strategic step defined a new core business area and developed into a central field of expertise for Sutco Polska – a focus that continues to shape the company to this day.
Further organizational developments underlined the company’s continuous growth: in 2005, the headquarters moved from Sosnowiec to Katowice, followed by the relocation of the Engineering Office in 2008. In 2012, Engineering was fully integrated into Sutco Polska, enabling stronger synergies, optimized processes, and a further strengthening of the company’s market position.
With growing expertise, Sutco Polska gradually expanded its geographic scope of activities. In addition to projects in the Polish market, selected projects are also carried out in neighboring countries – for example in the Czech Republic.
Sutco Polska Today
Today, Sutco Polska represents a strong team of more than 250 qualified specialists, innovative technological solutions, and decades of project experience. More than 140 successfully completed complex plant projects demonstrate the company’s competence, reliability, and performance – both in Poland and beyond.

One of the highlights of this anniversary year is the comprehensive modernization of the office building and surrounding areas. The redesigned facilities now provide a modern, sustainable, and attractive working environment that meets the demands of an increasingly digital and connected world.
